When mirroring side-by-side, the Miracast image looks small compared to the AirPlay image.

This is due to a limitation in Miracast as it sends the portrait resolution boxed in a landscape resolution adding black borders on the sides. There may be future fixes for this, but we have no time estimates to share. This issue goes away when in landscape mode.
