Windows 10 devices have two methods to connect with Miracast:
- Standard or Direct Miracast: In this case the Windows 10 device connects to the Wi-Fi Direct network of the AirServer Connect and mirrors over that connection.
- Miracast over Infrastructure (Infracast): This is an extension from Microsoft that uses Wi-Fi Direct for discovery but connects through the building infrastructure network.
PIN and encryption support was added to infracast in Windows 10 version 1809. On devices with older versions of Windows 10, Windows will connect to AirServer without a PIN prompt to provide compatibility.
