The AirServer Connect built-in hotspot might have selected a Wi-Fi channel that is part of the higher range of 5GHz channels (149-161), rather than just the lower range of 5GHz channels (channels 36-48) or 2.4GHz channels.

Some devices with specific wireless adapters do not support these higher frequency bands which prevents them from seeing the wireless adapter in AirServer Connect 4K UHD (eg. certain Killer Wi-Fi adapters in Dell laptops). This prevents these devices to see the hotspot or see AirServer Connect 4K UHD as a Miracast destination. To avoid this problem, we have added a toggle button in the Remote Management interface that allows you to disable these bands.

This behavior will also affect Miracast mirroring even if you do not use the built-in hotspot of AirServer Connect.

To prevent the adapter from functioning on the higher frequency bands, please follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have enabled Remote Management from the on-screen menu of AirServer Connect
  2. Access remote management by browsing to http://(ipadressofthedevice) and log in
  3. Go to the Guest Connectivity tab
  4. Enable the toggle for "Restrict Upper 5GHz Channels (149-161)" and reboot the device


  • The available Wi-Fi channels on the 5GHz band will vary with country regulations. If you are located in a country that does not allow the use of the lower 5GHz bands but allows access to the higher frequency bands, it is likely the wireless adapter switched to those higher frequency bands.
